Nowadays, as more and more video games are paid attention to by the mainstream media, the term "e-sports" has also begun to appear in the public eye, and you must have heard this word more or less in your daily life. But, do you know what "esports" is?
What is eSports?
Essentially, Electronic Sports is a sport in which video game competitions reach the "competitive" level. Mental confrontation between people using electronic devices as sports equipment. It is also a general term used to describe competitive games at the professional level, and the players who participate in esports are usually the most technologically advanced in the game.
In short, esports are competitive games. "Esports" is a group of players above the professional level of the game playing against each other, by signing up with special teams (similar to athlete signing clubs) to participate in esports competitions on a regular basis, in order to win huge competitive gaming tournament prizes. According to the games that players usually play, they can choose to participate in different e-sports competitions, usually each competitive game with a large player base will have its own e-sports events, such as "#League of Legends#", "DOTA", "Overwatch", "Call of Duty" and so on. And the more famous the game, the higher the esports event rewards, ranging from thousands to millions of dollars.
In addition, every competitive esports gaming organization (club) usually recruits multiple gaming esports players to form multiple gaming teams. For example, IG (Invictus Gaming's game club) e-sports club was established in 2011, and it has a League of Legends division, Dota 2 division, StarCraft II division, etc.
A guide to eSports for beginners: It is worth mentioning that e-sports is also a profession at present, similar to non-electronic game competitions such as chess, and on November 18, 2003, the State General Administration of Sports officially approved, e-sports as the 99th official sports competition. In 2008, the State General Administration of Sports reclassified e-sports as the No. 78 official sports competition. Just like well-known sports athletes, e-sports athletes also need to join daily practice, actual combat and other behaviors. You don't have to know how to play games to become an esports player.
What games can become esports?
In general, any multiplayer game has the potential to become an esports game, but competitive games are more likely to succeed as esports than other game genres due to the viewing and audience nature of the game. Take RPG games as an example, after all, no one wants to watch a few players spend hours playing books or PVP (another reason is that RPGs are generally less operable than competitive games, and the entry requires higher game understanding, a small audience, and the number of viewers and interest is naturally low).
For a game to succeed in esports, there are two crucial factors. Gameplay and game balance. The first is gameplay, if a game is not fun, then players will naturally get a low perception of entertainment when watching the event, and quickly lose interest, and esports without an audience will be unsuccessful. On the other hand, the balance of the game, if the game balance is not done well, then there are some strong heroes in e-sports, which is prone to viewing fatigue, and e-sports emphasizes the fairness of the game, the balance is not done well, let alone the event, even the game will not be played by many people.
How to join esports and become an esports player?
